Bill Torrey is in his sixth year as head coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball team at Portville Central School. Torrey graduated from PCS in 2000. His senior year he was named the Expressway Conference MVP, was appointed to the 2000 Big 30 All Star Team, and made Honorable Mention for All Western New York. He also played on the varsity team that went 42-4 from 1999-2000 seasons. He was an integral part of the 2000 Section VI C-2 Championship.

After his career ended at Portville, Coach Torrey went on to play at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for four years. He graduated from the University of Pitt-Bradford in May 2005 with a dual degree in Applied Mathematics and Math Education.

Bill spent one year at Allegany-Limestone, where he was the JV coach for the Gators, before joining the Panther's staff.

He has coached at numerous summer basketball camps including:

  • Ron DeCarli Basketball Camp
  • Portville Hoop School
  • Keystone State Camps
  • Philadelphia 76'ers Basketball Camp

Coach Torrey and his wife Crystal are the proud parents of two sons, Parker and Cason, and daughter Juelle Nichole.

Coach Torrey says:

"It is a tremendous feeling to be a part of Portville Basketball. Portville is where I learned to play this great sport and I have gained some useful knowledge in my travels since. It is a great privilege to be able to impart some of the knowledge and experience to the athletes here at Portville. It's a great honor to me to give back to the community that gave so much to me."
