Jeff Nix

Nix named to Big 30 HOF...Portville's Jeff Nix was named to the 2018 class of the Big 30 Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday during halftime of the 4th annual Big 30 All-Star Classic, held at Portville.

A 1976 graduate of PCS, Nix scored 942 points in his career which ranks him as the fifth all-time. He averaged 23.8 ppg his Senior year.

His record at PCS was 54-10 over three seasons. In his Junior year, the Panthers were 18-6, and captured the first Section VI championship in school history. In his Senior year, he led the team to a 20-1 record, losing to Maple Grove in the sectional finals.

Jeff then went on to play at Canisius College, graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration and a Masters in Sports Administration.

He began his coaching career at Canisius as an assistant. He also held the same position at St. Francis University, Loyola, Xavier, and Notre Dame.

Nix made five NCAA Tournament appearances (1986, 1987 at Xavier; 1988, 1989, 1990 at Notre Dame) and one NIT appearance (1992 at Notre Dame) as an assistant coach.

Jeff spent 15 years in the New York Knicks organization as an assistant coach, assistant general manager, and as the team's director of scouting.

He is currently in his 4th year with the Detriot Pistons, where he serves as assistant GM.

Jeff is a co-founder of Camouflage Kids Inc., which is a national non-profit organization that purchases tickets to collegiate athletic events which are distributed to families and children of those serving in the military. (Scroll down for a link to the Camo Kids website.)

Jeff is also a member of the PCS Hall of Fame, with his induction in 2003.

We want to take this opportunity to congratulate Jeff, who continues to represent Portville Central School. We couldn't ask for a better ambassador!
